Save St.Giles
In November 2016 representatives from Save St Giles went before the House Of Lords select committee to present the case that the proposed tunnel due to run under the village had not been fully researched, the land not fully surveyed and that the rare and precious chalk stream river would need to be protected. See transcript of the session HERE
The result was for HS2 Ltd to offer to take responsibility to protect the chalk stream river and monitor it during tunnel which is due to take place over a period of 2 weeks during 2021-22. Reassurances have been given by HS2 that they do not believe the chalk stream river will be disturbed in any way and they do not foresee any issues or negative impact from the tunnel or rail project once the project is complete and operational.
